I believe that the purpose of education and being an educator is to develop young minds to be able to learn to how to overcome any and all challenges that they will be presented with throughout their lives. In order to achieve this, I must provide my students with the knowledge they need to function and excel in their everyday lives. I believe in teaching cross-curricular lessons and activities with the goal of having my students be able to apply their knowledge, skills, and strategies in situations in their own lives. To support my students in this area, I will teach them how to seek out information, services, and resources to aid in solving problems that will arise after they leave school. It is also essential that I build up all of my students’ self-esteem and confidence, so that they may be successful in applying their knowledge in their everyday lives. As an educator, I will provide my students with the necessary skills to lead them to become thoughtful citizens that positively impact their community and all those around them. It is imperative that I teach my students lessons and strategies based on key elements such as punctuality, displaying professional and appropriate behavior, and effective communication and teamwork that they will use in a variety of different settings all throughout their lives. My philosophy of education is centered on the whole-child approach. Therefore as an educator, I will focus on the need to develop the social, emotional, mental, physical, and cognitive aspects of all of my students. I will always encourage each of my students to reach their full potential and be successful in all aspects of their lives. My philosophy of education is that all teachers must possess numerous qualities in order to create professional and positive relationships with all of their students. In order to do so, I must demonstrate the ability to make every student feel welcome in my classroom. My classroom beliefs and values will be centered on the need and importance of inclusion and diversity. One of the most important qualities I need to have as a teacher is the ability to express to students the importance of inclusion of their peers at school. I will constantly reiterate the importance of inclusion to my students by delivering effective curriculum that highlights this topic and ensuring that all students feel accepted and appreciated no matter their differences. Our differences are what makes us unique and this is something that should be and will be celebrated in my classroom. I can effectively achieve this by helping my students to feel comfortable with themselves, as well as their fellow classmates. Another, quality that I will strive to display is the ability to effectively make learning fun and different every day for my students. I will use the curriculum provided to me to create and implement new and interactive lessons and activities that will keep my students engaged and excited about learning. This will help my students to be on-task, focused, and excited to learn each and every day. As a teacher, I want my students to love coming to school. It is my belief that children respond with the same level of emotion or enthusiasm as displayed by their teacher. Therefore, I will always bring a high level of energy and I will display my own excitement for learning. I will display my passion for teaching by caring about the success of all of my students inside and outside of the school setting. Finally, as an educator I understand that every child is unique and learns differently. Therefore, I must possess the knowledge and ability to provide differentiated instruction and different types of lessons that will engage and work for all of my students. I believe that all teachers must provide their class with objectives and clear expectations for every lesson, so that they better understand what they are expected to do or learn and why it is important. In addition, I must have extensive knowledge of the school’s curriculum and standards in order to effectively create lessons based on the curriculum that meet the standards. I must also consistently implement effective classroom management skills that ensure positive student behavior, work habits, and respect for everyone in my classroom. I understand that every child possesses different strengths and areas they can improve upon and as an educator I will highlight each student’s strengths and help them improve and strengthen their areas of difficulty.
