Kindergarten Mathematics Stations Using Math Tubs:
For my kindergarten student teaching placement, I created and implemented seven different math centers using math tubs that all of my students had the opportunity to experiment with each day. My students were separated into seven small groups and were assigned to one table each day. Each table was presented with one math tub and was given directions on how to complete each center. Every day the students were given a different math tub and center to work on and complete. All of the students had the chance to use the seven different math tubs and complete the seven different centers multiple times throughout the time I student taught in their classroom. The math tubs and centers are described and explained on the attached document below.
For my kindergarten student teaching placement, I designed and implemented five different independent literacy and literature centers that all of my students had the opportunity to work on and complete every day. I also created a centers chart that displayed each of the five centers on it and the names of the students that were to go to each station for each given day. At the each of the independent literacy and literature centers block of the day, I would rotate the students names so that the chart displayed the students names for the next station that they would be at for the following day. Every day during the independent literacy and literature centers block of the day, I call four to five students to their designated center and location in the room to complete their center for the day. The students complete their assigned centers for about thirty minutes. After the thirty minutes was up, I rang a bell and the students were told to clean up their center and put everything back into its correct location in the room. The independent literacy and literature station are described and explained on the attached document below.
